Back Alley Tonsorium is The Rio Grande Valley’s newest addition to the tonsorial arts. BAT is a barber owned and operated studio in Harlingen, Tx led by homegrown barber , Mateo Torres.
Mateo received his state barber license locally, in the RGV, where he continued to hone his craft before taking an opportunity to grow in the industry. He then relocated to the DFW, and served the citizens of Denton, Dallas, and Ft. Worth, Tx for a number of years. While in North Texas, he continued to grow in Denton at Salon off the Square, and The Bearded Lady Barbershop. His time was spent split between both establishments, as well as the music venues and festivals in and around the DFW area, where he had the fortunate pleasure of cutting hair and styling for national and international talent on tour. As the growth and experience continued, the ultimate goal was a place to call home. What better place than home itself, back in the Rio Grande Valley.
Back Alley Tonsorium is more than just a barbershop ... it is a traditional tonsorial art gallery with an expertise in unisex grooming and straight razor shaves, with a modern touch. It is a safe place that will focus on attention to detail, to ensure satisfaction with every visit. By doing this, BAT hopes to create an authenticity within the community, and serve its citizens in the most professional way possible.

Whether you’re looking for a new style, a simple trim, or undecided and need some direction , BAT has got your back !
We will set up a game plan during our client consultation, and execute this plan to fit client’s needs and wants.
BEARD TRIM
$15
Keeping it long or taking it short, each beard trim is shaped with precision. From the jaw line to the neck line, to squaring off or rounding out the cheek bone areas and taming the stragglers. It’s all a custom fit. To ensure precision, estimated service time is 15-25 min, depending on length and size.
THE CAVEMAN

The Caveman is a combo of a haircut and a beard trim with a $5 discount ! Just a little something to say thanks for bundling up on services ! Thanks!
FULL SHAVE
$40
Includes a hot towel straight razor shave with a once over. Followed by a cold towel face massage. An ultimate opportunity for relaxation and a clean look!
If baby face isn’t your look, Partial shaves ( goatee, leaving the mustache, etc ) are offered upon request. Same rules apply as above.
Razors are disposed of properly after every use and replaced with a sterile new blade.
HEAD SHAVE

Similar to the full shave, our head shave option includes a hot towel straight razor shave with a once over and concludes with a cold towel head massage .

Includes one number guard all the way around. No fade or edge up. Shaped around the ears, neck and temples.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Due to Covid-19 and the risks that come with it, all services will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY !!! No Exceptions !!

Each appointment will be booked as a 1 hr time slot, to ensure time to sanitize and disinfect the area before and after appointments. Please be prompt to your scheduled appointment to ensure everyone’s safety and to be respectful to other’s scheduled time slots. Please come alone. If your child has an appointment, some exceptions may be made to accommodate. •
Face masks are REQUIRED and Worn Properly before entering the Tonsorium . I will be wearing one along with a face shield. Hand sanitizer will be given upon entering as well. I care for your well being, please care for mine.•If you feel sick, have been sick within the last 14 days, or have been in direct contact with someone who’s been sick and/or tested Positive for Covid-19 .
